Letter to the SILENT OBSERVERS on social media

Dear ‘SILENT OBSERVERS’ on FB…the ones who NEVER comment on or ‘like’ my posts (or anyone else’s posts for that matter). How are you doing? I realised a long time ago that you won’t show yourself on social media for a wide range of reasons, many of which I genuinely understand. You may be a deeply private person or maybe you think I don’t need any extra likes since I already get a few. Some of you even get a bit awkward when we meet for the first time and you announce that you’ve read every single thing I’ve written over the years but for your own personal reasons, you never let me know. I want to assure you that you don’t need to feel awkward. After all, interacting on social media isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some love to post, others love to respond, and still others prefer to read but never post or respond. AND THAT’S PERFECTLY OKAY. Do you know why? Because when I spend my time putting together my daily articles, my goal isn’t to get as many ‘likes’ as possible (although it always warms my heart when people respond). My core goal is to add value to people’s lives in small ways. So, if, after reading what I write, you feel a little happier, a little more confident…if there’s a new spring in your step, a twinkle in your eyes….if you feel less afraid and more motivated…then, my friends, I couldn’t ask for more. Being a silent observer on social media isn’t the end of the world. All I ask is to not simply be a silent observer of your own life as the years go by. Seize the day and follow your dreams.
