In the past, there were times when I declined invitations to dinner parties or social events. Not because I was ‘busy’. Rather because I knew which crowd would be attending and that the only topics discussed would be gossip about other people. Instead I chose to stay at home, spend time with my family and read a good book.
FOMO (or fear of missing out) is what often compels us to accept every single invite we receive. We want to be where the action is because we don’t want to miss out on any of the ‘fun’. But I’ve realised over the years that my idea of fun doesn’t have to ALWAYS match everyone else’s.
Now, because of the pandemic, we have a little more time on hand to reflect and look inwards. Think about the people you REALLY want to spend time with when things go back to normal. After all, we become the company we keep. Nim Gholkar, 2020 #ALittleWiswerALittleHappier
